iovation Elevates Digital Reputation Discussion at RSA
Company Executives Selected to Share Insights on Reputation Database Methods as an Emerging and Innovative Approach to Improving Online Safety
PORTLAND, Ore. – February 6, 2007 – iovation, the device reputation authority for online authentication and fraud management, was selected to speak at two sessions at the RSA Conference held this week in San Francisco. Both sessions will focus on the use of a digital reputation system to protect critical applications and networks.
“Consumers and service providers are constantly under an onslaught of attacks - from identity theft to phishing,” said Greg Pierson, CEO of iovation. “Utilizing reputation is an emerging and innovative approach to improving safety.”
Dan Lulich, iovation CTO, will lead a “birds of a feather” session at 12:15 p.m. PST on Tues., Feb. 6, titled “Uncloaking your Enemy with Digital Reputation.” According to Lulich, “Identity claims of a user requesting access to an online service do not foretell good or bad behavior once inside a system. However, having access to that user’s digital reputation would provide records of other accumulated good or bad experiences with the user across the Internet.” This session will examine emerging requirements for a digital reputation system.
Greg Pierson will speak at 8 a.m. PST on Thurs., Feb. 8. Pierson’s session, titled “Using Reputation to Manage Fraud,” will focus on trust and reputation. Pierson explains, “Reputation-based access control systems are being deployed to protect critical applications and networks. These systems aggregate and share reputation data, but how can we use this with identity to protect our online economy?” This session will survey identity validity claims and explore device reputation database methods in use and under deployment today.
