PORTLAND, Ore. – August 6, 2008 – iovation, the Device Reputation Authority™ for the Internet, today announced former executive vice president and vice chairman of Novell, Chris Stone, has joined the company’s board of directors.
Stone brings 28 years of software technology business and management experience to iovation’s board. Currently the CEO of SiCortex, a provider of high performance computer systems for scientific and engineering applications, Stone spent six years at Novell, where he held several senior executive positions. As executive vice president of corporate strategy and development and vice chairman for the office of the CEO, he was responsible for all aspects of Novell’s business operations, including the Identity Management team that pioneered directory technology, single sign-on and Security software. He also led the formation of the $50 million Novell Venture Fund.

Prior to SiCortex, Stone was president and CEO for all global operations for StreamServe, a European document management company. Stone also founded and was CEO of The Object Management Group, creators of the CORBA software standard, and Tilion, Inc. He spent over nine years at Data General working on the first multi-user office systems. In 1999, Ziff Davis Publishing named Stone to the list of “Smart Top 50” people in high tech. Red Herring placed him on its “Top Ten Entrepreneurs” list in 2001, and in 2003, he received the overall Top Innovator and Top Linux Open Source Award from VarBusiness Magazine. Stone also serves on the advisory board of EPIC Ventures. He holds an AMP/MBA from Harvard Business School.
