How Does iovation collect information?

iovation collects information in two different ways. First, iovation may collect information from users of this website. Second, iovation receives information from its subscribers about devices that connect with websites operated or controlled by those subscribers and utilizes such information to assist the subscribers in fraud detection and prevention (the "iovation services"). What kind of information do we collect when we provide iovation services to our customers?

iovation employs device identification technology to assist our subscribers in detecting and preventing fraud. iovation's device identification technology collects system (PC and Network) information about devices (such as computers and smart phones) that enables us to develop a "digital identifier" of the device. iovation may also receive other information regarding the user's device from its subscribers and other third parties, including but not limited to IP address, account identifier, and geo-location. iovation may combine this information with information from other iovation services, third parties, or iovation subscribers in order to provide our subscribers a better and more secure online environment and to improve the quality of our services.

iovation services do not involve collection of personally identifiable information that is not device specific.

Why is this information collected and who has access to it?

The device-identifying information that iovation collects becomes a permanent part of iovation's network database. iovation shares the following device-identifying information with other subscribers of the iovation services to permit them to evaluate the history and reputation of a particular device for the purpose of user protection and risk mitigation:
  • That a device was uniquely identified and that information about that device is on the iovation network;
  • How many other subscribers of iovation services have had experience with that particular device;
  • Which, if any, other devices or accounts are associated with a specific device; and
  • Whether the device had negative activity associated with it and what that negative activity was.
iovation does not share device-identifying information with outside parties who may wish to market their products to users. We may disclose user device identifier to nonaffiliated third parties that are acting on the user's behalf, including companies that perform support services for us such as data processors, technical systems consultants, and programmers.

There are other situations when iovation may disclose to third parties the device-identifying information iovation collects as permitted or required by law. Third parties could include government entities, courts or other entities (in response to subpoenas and other legal processes), and those with whom a subscriber may request us to share information.

Some state laws may impose additional restrictions on disclosure of information about customers in those states for certain purposes.

How long is the information retained?

Information is retained for an indeterminate amount of time.

Do users have access to their information?

iovation customers who visit this website have access to the information we collect from them. Customers who wish to change or view information should contact their sales representative or contact iovation through email, phone or post.

iovation does not provide access to the device identifying information we collect except to subscribers of iovation services. For such subscribers, the device identifying information is provided in the manner described above.

iovation is committed to abide by the Safe Harbor framework as defined by the United States Department of Commerce regarding the collection, use and retention of personal information collected from the European Union (the "Safe Harbor Principles").

How does iovation handle disputes about collected data?

iovation regularly reviews its compliance with this Policy. What kind of information does iovation services store on user's device?

In the delivery of iovation services, at the completion of the device identification process, iovation stores a device identifier on the user's computer.

Device identifiers are small amounts of information that are stored on the user's device to accurately identify a re-visiting device. In order for iovation to be able to provide and improve its services, iovation may send one or more device identifiers to user's computer.

Other Sites

This Policy applies to websites and services that are owned and operated by iovation. iovation does not exercise control over any other sites, including those sites that subscribe to and use iovation's services. These other sites may place their own cookies or other files on user's device, collect data or solicit PII from the user. How any such information is handled lies strictly within the control of such third parties and is subject to their privacy policies. iovation has no responsibility for the confidentiality, protection or use of such information.

How We Offer our Customers Choice

Users of this website who do not want iovation Inc. to contact you or your company for marketing purposes by email, postal mail, fax and/or phone, you may opt out by contacting our customer service or by sending email or writing to us at info@iovation.com.

iovation's subscribers who utilize iovation's fraud prevention services are responsible for providing appropriate notice and choice to their customers.

Security of Your Information

To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the correct use of information, we have put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online. Access to customer information is restricted to authorized personnel only. All data obtained via iovation services is on secure servers located on our premises. iovation has adopted the following security measures to ensure that the data is not accessible to unauthorized parties:

  • Data transmitted is protected by industry standard encryption protocols in transit.
  • Data access is based on the principle of least privilege.

  • Application layer controls prevent other subscribers from accessing data designated as private.
All employees of iovation who have access to the data are subject to Company policies that prohibit unauthorized transmission of data to third parties.
