Device Recognition v. Device Reputation

Unique device identification is what is usually meant by device recognition. Recognition considers, “what can we know right now about this particular mobile phone, laptop, or tablet?” unique digital fingerprint, operating system, number of apps, or other factors.

By contrast, device reputation looks at history of the device. Has the device been linked to fraudulent activity, and what other devices is that device linked to via linked accounts? Device reputation aids you in your fraud detection efforts.
