Just how much of a ‘stake’ can you put in our findings? Our report is based on:
- Protecting over 460 million gambling transactions in 2017 (an increase of 8.9% over 2016, and contextualized in a record of 3.6 billion gambling transactions processed since 2004).
- 8 of the world’s top 10 online gambling platforms reliance on iovation as their fraud prevention platform of choice.
- 100 active Gambling Platforms and Operators.
Now let’s get into the report’s three major themes. (Sign up now to get your copy of the comprehensive report as soon as it’s available.)
Going All In on Players’ Experience
As competition heats up and operators look for new ways to retain their VIP players, we expect to see intense focus on new technologies that facilitate faster play without sacrificing security.
That’s no small task when you consider that 61% of gambling operators’ revenue and 72% of betting stakes comes via mobile devices.
Rapid identification and onboarding of trustworthy new players, and offering incentives and bonuses to VIP players via risk-based machine learning, stand to serve as a key competitive differentiator for gaming operators in 2018.
Finding Opportunity in Tightening Regulatory Mandates
In addition to increasing competition, operators have had to prepare for GDPR and PSD2, contend with uncertainty caused by the regulations, and continue to innovate while under the spectre of the high-profile fines levied by the Gambling Commission in 2017.
Stricter regulations over players’ data privacy and enforcement of self-exclusion laws will remain top of mind for operators in 2018.
Operators need to show they can identify self-excluded players regardless of the identity provided or the devices used, and do so without compromising data-privacy regulations.
In this context, it’s no surprise that self-exclusion was the most common type of feedback report placed by our gambling clients in 2017 to tag devices and accounts as having been player self-excluded. We expect operators will take greater advantage of our Privacy By Design and data minimization approach as these regulatory trends intensify in 2018.
Expect More Sophisticated and Coordinated Attacks
Here we’ll dive deep into the insights available only from our device database, the world’s largest. You won’t believe how much and how quickly fraud rings have grown in sophistication.
We’ll shine a light on fraudsters’ most widespread tactics and show how we’re helping operators stay one step ahead.
