In the modern age, it's more crucial than ever for organizations to establish a common lexicon across fraud and infosec teams. Connecting the “how” (server compromises, Dark Web bulk credential purchases) to the “what” (credential stuffing, password spraying) helps to inform the “result” - like a breached account or cash theft.

May 22: Gartner Offers a Converged and Compelling Future

Research firm Gartner has introduced their “Trusted Identity Capabilities Model,” a blueprint for converging the work done by identity proofing, authentication and fraud prevention teams. Benefits include improving efficiency, insight into new risks, UX and alignment to organizational goals.

Beyond Device Recognition - Using Device Behavior, Context, and Reputation to Stop Fraud

Device intelligence is more than accurately recognizing a device. It’s understanding the DNA of the device by considering its context, behavior, and reputation. Context tells us where the device is located. Behavior shows us what a device has been up to recently, if it is trying to fake what it really is, where it is really located, or has an abnormally high amount of online activity. Reputation tells us if there is a past history of fraud associated with the device.
